Planning
Our Comprehensive Plan is complete: Learn more about the Shenandoah 2045: A Future Together!
Every community has a plan for the future, a dream of what it can one day become. Your community has a plan too. Long-range planning for the County is guided by the County staff and conducted in a collaborative process with many committees, other partners, and hopefully yourself! The County's roadmap to the future is the County's Comprehensive Plan, which sets out the vision and direction for the County until 2045. The Plan is continually reviewed and updated with the assistance of the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC).
The Comprehensive Plan discusses such topics as:
Historic and scenic resources
- Natural resources
- Land use
- Economic Development
- Population
- Housing
- Public services and facilities
- Transportation
- Hazard Mitigation
County Planning also involves more fine-tuned planning such as small area plans, reports and studies of the current and projected futures of the County, as well as larger County-wide or Region-wide plans.
Shenandoah County is also home to six different Towns, the pearls of Shenandoah County, which have their own respective comprehensive plans.
