If you would like to learn the zoning district for your property, you may use the Shenandoah County mapping (“GIS”) web site (link shown at bottom) . Either use the Help page at the GIS site, or follow these instructions:
1. An address search box appears when first arriving on the web page.
Type in the street number and road name in the Address box. Alternatively, you may choose to search by Owner Name.
2. Once you have the results of your search and see the map of your parcel, click on the Identify button in the top left, and then click somewhere on your property. A black dot will appear where you click. Wait about ten seconds.
3. A box will pop up showing details of the property. Click on the down arrow to the right of “Soils” and select “Zoning”.
4. The Description (e.g. “Agriculture”) and the Locality Zoning (e.g. “Shenandoah A-1”) will appear in the box. In the example below, the property is zoned A-1, which is agriculture.
