Shenandoah County Dept. of Fire and Rescue, in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, will be sponsoring a Fire Officer I certification program.   This 46 hour course is designed for "new" officers or officer candidates to learn basic skills such as communication, effective supervision and resource management. Other topics covered include: ethics and decision making, training, community relations, firefighter safety and wellness, incident scene operations and management, fire prevention strategies, post incident strategies, leadership, and fire service administration.

This course meets the standard for Command Staff Officers as identified in the Shenandoah County Training Standards and Qualifications Directive.
