Shenandoah County Dept. of Fire and Rescue, in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, will be sponsoring the 16ᵗʰ annual certification academy course in Firefighter Level I &
II. This 260-hour program is designed to teach entry-level firefighters various topics to include: safety, ventilation, forcible entry, search and rescue, fire streams, suppression, personal
protective equipment, fire extinguishment, and hazardous materials mitigation. The content of this program is based on the most current edition of the NFPA 1001 standard- 2019. In addition to
Firefighter Level I and II, successful candidates will also be able to gain certification in Mayday Firefighter Operations, and Hazardous Materials Operations Level.

Dates: Begins November 11, 2023, through June 22, 2024

Instructors: Local SCFR Instructor Cadre
Times: Class begins promptly at 19:00hrs on weekdays and 08:00hrs on weekends.
Cost: $400.00 per student. Cash, money order, or checks made payable to: SCFR
Prerequisites: Students must be 16 years of age before the start of the course and must have written parental support as well as departmental endorsement to participate.
All students must complete the attached Medical Statement of Personnel form to be brought the first evening of class.
