The County of Shenandoah Commissioner of Revenue’s office is accepting applications for a TAX COMPLIANCE OFFICER. Applicant will conduct audits to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, will examine accounting records/tax returns of Shenandoah County businesses to determine if appropriate taxes are being reported and assessed, and will conduct in-depth compliance investigations, as necessary. This position will require an individual with considerable knowledge of all types of business operations, accounting, and reporting processes, ability to interpret and apply technical, professional, and legal language, and ability to interact and discuss legal interpretations and applications of state and local taxation codes and ordinances with fellow deputies, business owners and operators, attorneys, and financial officers. Minimum requirements are as follows: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major concentration in accounting or finance and considerable experience in accounting, auditing, or preparing tax returns. Previous governmental or agency auditing experience preferred. Shenandoah County offers a fringe benefit package including VRS retirement and life insurance, health insurance, annual and sick leave programs. Salary Range is $45,144 – $67,017.
