Shenandoah County is accepting applications for the position of Residential Combination Building Inspector. This position performs residential building, framing, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and erosion control inspections. This position also performs damage assessment, responds to complaints, and structural damage as directed by Fire & Rescue. Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of computers (Microsoft Office as an example), other computer systems, and the ability to record information and inspections for permanent records. Any combinations of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in a variety of inspection specialties and a minimum of three years of experience in one or more of the building construction trades. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in a highly interactive team-orientated work environment with co-workers, contractors, and the public. Salary is off the Grade 16 County pay scale with a starting salary of $37,140. Benefits include Virginia Retirement System, health and dental insurance, vacation, sick leave and holidays.
