Shenandoah County Fire & Rescue Recruitment and Retention Officer

The County of Shenandoah Department of Fire and Rescue is accepting applications for the position of Recruitment and Retention Officer. This position performs intermediate technical and administrative work coordinating and developing current and innovative approaches to the recruitment and retention of Fire and EMS personnel and will report directly to the Fire Chief.

The successful candidate must possess a general knowledge of emergency medical services and fire suppression administration as well as a general knowledge of federal and state programs and related grants. The successful candidate will also possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Driver’s License.

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to: recruiting and retaining fire and EMS personnel; developing and monitoring recruitment and retention programs; coordinating and implementing special recruitment events and projects and preparing, designing and updating the departments’ social media.

This, is a full-time, FSLA non-exempt position with a starting salary of $31,148.00 and a 2.5% increase after 6 months of satisfactory performance. Benefits include Virginia Retirement System, health and dental insurance, and vacation, sick and holiday leave.
