Position: LIBRARY ASSISTANT, Part Time – Two Positions
Location: Shenandoah County Library System (20 hrs/week)
Description: The Shenandoah County Library System is accepting applications for the position of Library Circulation Assistant. The weekly schedule will be split between the County Library in Edinburg, and the Strasburg Community Library. Job duties include providing assistance in circulation; assisting patrons in use of library equipment and locating library materials; advising patrons; maintaining records and files. Work includes moderate lifting and bending associated with the shelving of books, videos and other library materials. Work is performed under the direction of the Circulation Supervisor. Scheduled hours are expected to be four five-hour shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons. Shifts will vary but will be between the hours of 11 AM and 6PM.
Required Qualifications: Ability to provide friendly, courteous service to library users. Strong organization skills. General familiarity with libraries, books and basic computer/internet use. Education equivalent to high school diploma or higher.
Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience in library public service; experience with TLC library automation software, or related software products. Ability to provide computer assistance and create basic documents such as signs and informational flyers.
