The County of Shenandoah is accepting applications for the position of landfill Laborer. This position performs a variety of unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks for the Solid Waste Management Department.
Successful candidates must be able to perform manual labor including the following tasks:
- Unloading and sorting recycled materials, operating equipment to move, process and bail materials;
- Loading and unloading gravel, dirt, timber, chemicals and other materials, tools and equipment;
- Performing various grounds and facility maintenance duties including litter control, mowing, raking, and snow and ice removal.
This position is also required to be able to assist in the repair and maintenance of landfill equipment and facilities; and operate trucks, light construction equipment and motorized handheld equipment in performing labor tasks. Minimum education level is any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with a competitive benefits package, including Virginia Retirement System, health and dental insurance, vacation, sick, and holiday leave. Compensation will depend on the successful candidate s experience and education. The position is on a grade 7 of the County’s pay scale with a preferred starting salary range of $22,566 to $24,301.
