Building Code Official

Shenandoah County is accepting applications for the position of Building Code Official. This position performs difficult professional and responsible administrative work in the inspection of building plans and construction for compliance with legal standards.  Plans, coordinates, participates and supervises the building code enforcement activities of the County. Approves and signs building permits, certificates of occupancy, condemnation orders and reviews building plans. Enforces adopted International Codes as amended by the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. Possess comprehensive knowledge of all types of building construction materials and methods and stages of construction.  Coordinates building code enforcement work with county staff and other local and state agencies. High school diploma and extensive experience in building code enforcement work are required.  Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, planning, public administration, architecture, or other relevant field is preferred.

Salary is on Grade 26 of the County pay scale with a starting salary of $57,023.
